Last of November

It is the last of November and our granddaughter Leah is in Chicago.  I found this picture of her and a friend on FaceBook.

I am so blessed to have such beautiful subjects for my layouts. It makes my hobby so much more enjoyable..

With a tree in the great room, I'm ready to jump into the Christmas season tomorrow. Just a few minutes from now...

Caleb has enjoyed many hours at the Museum of Discovery in his home town. From the looks of things, he'll enjoy many more.  After seeing him with this set of drums, I teased that we should get him a set for Christmas.  After all, we did buy drums for his cousins, the triplets, when they were little tykes.  Of course that was with their mother's blessing. But not everyone can handle that much noise in his or her own home.

Just look at the way he wields those drumsticks.  Looks like a natural born drummer to me.  So I'm glad he has this museum  so close to home, so that he can get this drumming out of his system whenever the urge hits.   Of course, that is not an instant gratification thing. I think his parents are not into giving him that much control.

I imagine he will graduate from banging things and go on to strumming or blowing another instrument before too long.  He seems to have music in his bones.

The Wall

The forms are ready...the cement truck arrives.  The book this time will have quite a spread about this monumental task of wall building.  Ron must have felt like Nehemiah at times.  I give God the credit for getting him through this without a heart attack or something. God sent people to help at the right times. It is now done...has been since the 29th of October.  I still have more layouts.   Can't leave out the guy pages.

We are in real transition here from fall to Christmas. I'm doing it slowly. But it is coming together. MIght not be decorated as much as usual, but we don't have any little ones visiting. I'm still hoping for a time when the youngest will be able to enjoy our old Christmas tree with all the working Hallmark ornaments. Sure wish it could be at Christmas, rather than a Christmas in July...but whatever will be will be.  We can enjoy it  either way.

Snap, Snap, Snap

Mason is making good use of his camera at the  zoo.  There is plenty to see there. Lots of memories to visualize.

This era, most likely will go down in history as the most photographed society. Cameras are EVERYWHERE. I have three and often carry two, yet often miss a picture.

Coming home from Amish country in PA  I kept my digital pocket camera on and in my hands ready to shoot, since the scenery was so very lovely that sun lit day.  Yes, often, I missed a shot. My reflexed have slowed.

However, I doubt that Mason missed a shot.

Fall is Gone

Although the leaves have fallen and Fall is gone, I had this layout lingering on my computer. It's okay. It could have remained hidden away. But I want to remember the everyday me...do I really?  Well maybe not, but here I am...just on a quick run to the market at lunch time. With all the food in the house, there was nothing to eat at noon.  No make up, no shoes. Well that is not true. I do have shoes. Thank you God.  And thanks also for the beautiful colors of fall.  We can get through all the other months of snow and heat here in the north, just so we can look forward to the perfect temperatures of autumn. But these perfect days are too few.

Now that fall is past and the Christmas season is upon us...there is decorating, shopping, hopping around getting everything in order and on order for that big day, the day we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, by giving our meager gifts, in remembrance of the  biggest gift ever given...that of our Lord, who came to Earth to give us life everlasting.

PInch Me

Hope you can see the expression on his face. It looks to me as  if he is overwhelmed with everything at the new Museum of Discovery at Ft Collins.  He has fallen in love with the place with all it's displays.  He has already discovered so very much and he's been back for more since his first visit less that 2 weeks ago.

As adults we need to keep alive that same spirit of wonder and excitement with learning.  There are new things to see, do and learn every day, if we'll just keep our eyes open.

One place I like to go to learn is the Bible.  One would think that since it is only a book, he/she could learn all there is in  it in a short  while.  However, it is a living  book.  That doesn't mean it changes all the time.  However, a person will get out of it different things at different times depending on what they have experienced and what they need to know now. As much as I study, there are many, many times that a verse or two will jump out at me and shout, "Did you know this?  Did you ever understand these verses in this way before?"

If you are young, try reading the Bible. It is full of wisdom and  instruction. It is all one really needs to learn the best way to live your life.

And if you are old, like me, and you have studied the great book your whole life, try reading it again, in light of what you know now. It should give you a fresh understanding and a familiar comfort that faith affords.

Timothy 3:16-17

New International Version (NIV)
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

We give Thanks

I am thankful that April's husband gave me the opportunity to be a great grandmother. Jerod, Tim's son, and his wife, Hope have a two year old named Sammy.  And here he is. What a cute little guy he is. His family, which will grow by one in the spring, was at April's and Tim's house with us on Thanksgiving.  We also had our granddaughter Lauren and her boyfriend, Pat. The number was  rounded out with Boo, April's cat and Gracie, Hope's dog.

Of course a lot of attention went to Sammy. No one else there could pull off 'cute' the way he can.

When we weren't eating...and that wasn't much, some of  the most adventurous among us went for a walk (that was April, Hope and Sammy) we put together a puzzle and did higher tech things  like using laptops, iPads, iPhones, iPods (I'm not sure about that one.)  coffee makers and toaster ovens.  We were introduced to the Roku.  But this non-techy one still doesn't understand what it is or why it is.

We are very thankful for the blessings our God has given us. We are thankful for each other.

I, the one with the camera...I had three with me counting the iPhone...took very few pictures, none of April at all.  Either she was buzzing around the kitchen at too great a speed to be caught or she dodged the camera well.  Before we left the next morning, I tried to get a picture of her and Tim, but she declined because she had no makeup.  She is definitely a natural beauty, so I don't get it, but I respect her wishes and will just take multiples next time we are together...should be Christmas.

Black Friday

What a wonderful day for a surprise...Black Friday.

When I attempted to add my layout here, I was surprised by this notice:

Whoops! You're out of space. You are currently using 100% of your 1 GB quota for photos...
Photos are stored in your Picasa Web Albums account and are included in your 1 GB free quota for photos. Additional storage you purchase is shared between several Google products and is in addition to your free quota...
This was not a pleasant surprise! I had no idea I was paying for this. Supposedly it was free.  I made a resolution at the first of the year to post every day this year.  Now, it is late and my computer savy hubby is sleeping. So, I'll not have a layout tonight...maybe never again.

Thanksgiving was a great time for traditions and we were able to share that with April's family again this year. A great addition was Sammy, who had just turned one last year.  (My layout was pictures of him playing with his garage and cars.) Yesterday, he was a lot of fun, for now at two, he has learned to say 'no'.  We really did enjoy him.  We wish we could have had our grandson, Caleb there as well.  Although, I imagine that a whole day with the two of them may have been more than any of us were able to handle while eating ourselves silly.

We are thankful to our living God for all He has provided for us, especially these little grandchildren.
By next Thanksgiving, there will be another one.  Sammy is going to have a sister or brother in April.

Who Knows

Is there anyone else on the planet who has as much trouble with computers as I? For some reason, I cannot write under the layout as I always do.  Tonight it will only let me write before the picture.  Who knows?

(It is now the 26th, and I've changed the picture to the top of the page.)

Making Room

For seven years we have lived here with plenty of room...that is, empty space, but not enough seating for  dinner guests.

When our friends, Layton and Teresa, moved to Texas, we bought the table they had gotten early in their marriage. It is old, but it's just what we needed. You can see in this picture that we've kept our old table.  With both of them, we can seat 14. Of course, if we use counter stools  that will still add more room.  And then when the weather is warmer, there is room on the screened porch.

These last couple or weeks, I've been wanting to find time to recover the chairs. I had bought enough to do six chairs when we moved here, and did. I could save by covering 6 with that fabric and the  arm chairs with something complimentary.  However, it wasn't to be.  I couldn't find anything that matched well enough.

Now, I call this a 'God thing' ... I had gone to JoAnn's searching for a match. One of my best friends, who has a super decorating talent, tapped me on the shoulder. Hmmmm. She was miles from her home, but was on a search of her own.  I mentioned my plight and she gladly helped me choose a pattern to cover all eight chairs.

For the layout here, I used my fabric I had tried to match as a background.  Later, I will show you the fabric we chose at JoAnn's and the chairs. I think they turned out beautifully.  And of course, I am thanking Sali for that.

A side affect is two wounds on my right hand and left arm, where I managed to gouge myself with a screwdriver while removing staples and another injury from wielding needle nose pliers. Needless to say, I am not an accomplished upholsterer.  But we're still pleased with the results.

I am still trying to adjust  to  the last election. This  was the verse of the day on Bible Gateway yesterday.  "I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.  I Timothy 2: 1-2

Greg's play, Twilight of the Gods, opened at the Community Theater in Germantown, Tennessee. His family was anxious to go with him to see the play. It was wise for them to spend the night close to the theater, so that is what  they did. And the triplets found a big kid toy... well it wasn't really for playing, but that was how they used it.

It is good that we still have our freedom to travel.

I remember traveling in Bulgaria.  Even after they had come out from behind the Iron Curtain, they were still used to a lot of the old ways. One was that they were not free to travel  from one place to another. They had to show their papers everywhere they went.  It will be difficult for Americans who were born free to conform to the harsh laws of a socialist government, where they will not only need a birth certificate to vote, but to travel from one state to another, provided they will be able to travel.  I know the plan is mass transit. It is easier to keep track of the people who travel that way.

Of course, we'll have no choice, but to conform. Conformity is the new rule... but as Christians, we have been told to stand apart from the world.  We are not of the world.  "Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the LORE, and who meditates on his law day and night.  Psalm 1: 1-2

Our granddaughter, Lauren has been a part of a cross fitness team at University of Alabama this year. She is the one in the front dressed in a hot pink tank top. They were  told to flex their muscles, but she chose  to not do that.  It makes for a more interesting photo.  Cross Fitness came as a surprise to me, since we don't really keep up with sports in this house.   But I find it rather interesting.

I'm still trying to regain my equilibrium from the traumatic results of the election this month.  So, I'm searching for scriptures that can make a difference in my outlook.

Here is a Bible verse which may help me .  "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13"

Looking Down on Us

From the minute I got  these pictures from Beth, I've loved them.  All these cute little ones are busily pulling the kernels off  ears of  corn. They are working diligently. Oh to have the sweet mind of an innocent child.   After all, Jesus said:
“Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.   Matthew 18:3

A child is trusting and eager to learn. It would be a good idea to study this further to know just exactly what we would be like in the father's eyes if we were like the little children.

God is looking down on us. It is easy for him to see how far off that path we are at present. This world is full of sin and it is causing this nation.. the whole world to falter and fail. But what we really need to remember is this:  Unless we change and become like little children, we will never enter the kingdom of heaven!

But we don't really want to leave with a negative thought, so how about...let's try  to clean up our minds and be like the little children, so that we are pleasing to our father in heaven.

Grow Like Jesus

Caleb  got to milk the goat. It is great they have a 'city' farm that is used to educate the children on animals and farm life. He has experienced a lot there.

Hopefully, he will continue to learn good things.

I remember the verse I always prayed over Caleb's dad when he was a  boy. I prayed he would grow like Jesus did... Luke 2:52  "And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man."  I am praying that Caleb will grow in the same ways. May God bless him in all he does.

And speaking of prayer, one of our friends recently sent us the prayer he remembers his father praying for 12 years.  Dave said, that given the current state of the church in our nation, it seems appropriate now.

LORD, hear our prayer:
We pray for a God-given,
Jesus-centered,
Holy Spirit empowered
revival;
an outpouring of Your power to
fall on us with Your Presence,
fill us with Your power, and
fire us with Your passion to
win the lost to Christ,
heal the sick and
deliver the oppressed.
And LORD,
let it begin with me.

I tend to agree. Let it begin now with him, you and me.

November 15, 2012

I've reached all the way back to August for this picture of Lauren and her very good friend, Pat. What a beautiful subject...makes it easy to come up with a nice layout.

I've never been a big fan of Israel, yet when I see it has been attacked shamelessly  by Hamas and innocent families have been killed, my heart goes out to them. God said that as long as the earth stands, there would be wars and rumors of wars. I am praying today that God gives Israel whatever strength it needs to defend itself, since it's best ally died November 6th.

Selfless

Sunday night, the 28th of October, was the night for Trunk or Treat at the triplet's church.  All three dressed as characters of video game fame.  Ashley went as Princess Zelda from the Legend of Zelda. Mason and Aussie were characters from Minecraft. You may not have guessed, but the two boys are the big boxy guys.  Ashley is on your left and their friend Edie is in the middle.

A little observation...it could be good or bad.  You decide.

It would take a lot to 'fly under the radar' with cell phones having GPS and email accounts easily identifiable and the omni revealing FaceBook.  The government can not only know where you are, but know who all your family members, friends and acquaintances are,  and where to find them. And now 'they' even  know you out on the street where they have cameras at many intersections. They can run those pics through computers and identify you quickly.   They can watch your home from satellite. Even walking in the woods they know what color you are and your approximate age.

It could be said that these kids are 'selfless' in these costumes. At least they are trying to be something they are not.  And they are being deferential, sharing their treats evenly.

However, that is not the habit of many people, especially these days, when many are selfish.  Many of those who have  do not wish to share and many who 'have not' as much, want what has not been handed over to them. Both are in an improper position. Both are not practicing Biblical ways.  Romans 12:10 says," Be devoted to one another in brotherly love.  Honor one another above yourselves."

Designer's Prerogative : Got up this morning, checked into www.scrapgirls.com, noticed a collection by Kim Meeder called Lovin' Life with Halloween type colors, looked it up on my computer (Oh yes, I have it.) thought of the layout I made last night, opened it in PSE, added a green heart, liked the affect.  Here it is...

Caleb and the Pony

As I've said before, Caleb really enjoys his farm class. It is good to see him with the animals, since I like them so well myself. God's creatures are so interesting and those that are easily trained are a delight.

Our creator God is a loving god and we are blessed to be his people.  I have been praying more, thanking Him for all He has done and asking Him to once more save this people from destruction.

Dear God in Heaven, Holy is your name and blessed are we to be your people.  We ask, Father, that you will heal those who are sick and comfort the broken hearted.

Forgive us, father, when we take your gifts for granted.   Many times we fail to give thanks for all you have provided for us, from water to soil that grows our food and clay that is used to make bricks.  Often, you hear us complain that the water isn't perfectly clear, or the soil is just dirt on our sidewalks.  Let us remember that what you gave us is perfect, but that we have not always done with it what you would like.  You first gave us Eden and we sinned.  You gave us a way to work together and build great cities and we sinned. You gave us great wealth in this nation and we became materialistic.  You gave us a Christian nation and we have become immoral.  We have become self centered and have neglected to live out loud the life you taught us by example.  We have become fearful and we neglect to stand up for your truth.

You gave us a government to protect us and we have expanded it and now it is trying to make us do what in wrong in your sight.  We pray for churches and even businesses like Hobby Lobby that are being forced to go against their consciences and pay for abortions.  We beg your forgiveness, Lord.  God you have said, "If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land."

Help us heed your scriptures.  In Jesus name, AMEN

Helping Dad

April was here just a short while, but she wanted to help her 'aging' dad with his monumental task.   She wanted to help her dad build the cement forms.  He did the standing in the lake in waders thing and she handed him tools from shore as he needed them.

Yes the sea wall is done, at least until spring when the landscaping has to be completed. But it is taking me extra time to get his book pages completed...We do have other activities.  We also have sweet grand children pictures that we want published.

On October 22, April served as an assistant to her dad who was building the forms for the cement to be poured the next week.  He had been working on this project for over a month and was really feeling it...aching and sleeping most of the time that he wasn't on the job.

It's good to see someone actually working these days. It seems like most feel they are above manual labor. Everyone (practically) is going to college to become...who knows what.  No one wants to actually work.  They would rather collect unemployment than lift a finger.

When I hear of people who are laboring at anything,  I am encouraged by their initiative.  This country was built by hard work and conversely it is dying because of a lack of it.

The Bible teaches us that a man who does not work, should not eat. That is harsh, but our God means for us to labor in one way or another to earn our keep. Fathers are to support their families and when that obligation is met, we are to help others who are not able, even though they are working, to meet their needs. It is a perfect system, but we are not a perfect people and never will be.  We are all sinners and because of that, we don't always do what needs to be done.

The time has come when our country will completely die, if we do not honor our God and follow His way, keeping His commandments and seeking His will for our lives.

Chelle's Birthday

Chelle celebrated her birthday this weekend. She scrapbooked Friday and Saturday and then she and Greg enjoyed today together. She is my first born and brings me joy.  This picture was taken of her and Greg 3 days before her birthday.

Happy Birthday, Chelle.  Happy Birthday to you.

It was a treat for us today to see our preacher come to the pulpit in his uniform in celebration of Veterans' Day.  I was able to thank a few vets today, three I didn't know, but ran into at Chipoltle's.
Our veterans have given up so much to protect us. We need to keep their sacrifice in mind daily and make it a point to let them know how much they are appreciated.

The Goose

I thought for quite a while about these  photos of Caleb with the crested ducks and the goose. I really wanted something clever.  It would be nice to know what that goose is thinking. He sure  did seem to take in every word Caleb spoke.  Alas, I am dry, nothing even remotely catchy came to mind...so the pictures must speak for themselves.

Many of our friends are stepping back this week and trying to regain their equilibrium. I've done that as well.  My feelings have run the gamut from initial shock  to the point I've reached now... no where near as concerned as I was.  A good, honest government that respects all citizens the same, and protects all, is admittedly a comfort; but I now realize that all we really need is God. I will lean on Romans 8:28 which says...

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."

That has been one of my favorite verses over the years, but I just took the 'all things' clause further than I've ever needed to before.

Tomorrow is my first born's birthday. It's still hard to have her over 8 hours away. Won't say how many years ago  she was born, but Nixon was president.  I doubt  she would mind.  She looks very good for her age.

I hope to get a layout of her on the blog before this time tomorrow.

Dragon Halloween

Since Caleb loves the movie, How To Train Your Dragon, his mom made him a dragon costume for Halloween.

Halloween has passed and it is almost Thanksgiving. Time flies whether or not you are having fun, at least around here.

This week has not been a lot of fun. It's hard enough to lose an important election, but this was particularly jarring to my world. Since I really don't have any hope at this point that we will ever recover, I've been fighting depression.  Of course I do have the tool to do that.  It is called,' faith'.
I believe with all my heart that God is in control and that His will is being done.  Even though it is not
the same as I would have willed, I know He knows best.

Today, I turned off talk radio and listened to the Fish any time I was driving.  Ron has been preaching to me to be content in whatever circumstances I find myself.  I know he is right...that is Bible, but I'm still working on it.

I plan to let my subscription run out  to our newspaper. If things are as bad as I imagine, it won't do any good  to read it. It will just keep me upset.

I don't believe I'm thinking this way. I have been quite disturbed in the past with people who buried their heads in the sand...and now I'm contemplating it myself.

I know I must obey the law and honor those in public office. It just does not seem easy at this point.

May the creator God strengthen me. And I pray He helps me  direct my efforts to teaching others about Him and His peace, for He is the God of love and grace. Christ shed His blood to cover our sins.
He has promised us an everlasting home with him in glory.  Praise God.

Little Dragon

We are very pleased that not only can Beth stay with Caleb all day, she wants to do that. What a blessing for him and for her.

This is her little dragon, the one that is fascinated by the movie, How To Train a Dragon. Now he is the dragon, thanks to his mother's ability to design and sew.

Unlike us, Caleb is  not one bit interested in the election, even though he and others his age will be much more greatly impacted by it. I pray we can fix some of the damage before he becomes a breadwinner.

This will be my last comment on the election...at least that is my intention now.  This election proved, sad, but true... that you just can't beat Santa Claus.

Our country is looking very much like this prediction by Paul Harvey back in 1965, 47 years ago.

Many of us 'old timers' listened to Mr. Harvey's programs that were broadcast over 1,200 radio stations nationwide.

You get a chance to hear him now...less that three minutes.

What do you think?

Little Rookie Fireman

Some firemen were across the street teaching one of their men how to get water from a lake for fires.
They saw Caleb watching intently and called him over to 'help'.  Beth gladly took him  and let the little 'rookie'  'drill' with the fire fighters. He was really excited to sit in the drivers' seat and hold the hose. One of the firemen has a boy a couple months older than Caleb and was glad to see this little towhead be so interested.

This is the 40th day of prayer for this election. It looks at this point that we will need to fervently pray for the next four years that we can retain our religious freedom.  It is not looking  good. I'm not sure where all the new voters came from, but they surely have flooded the polls with votes for government control of all money and redistribution of wealth.  "They" evidently don't realize we had the best health care in the world and want a plan that will ration care and cost us more than we have been paying, since now the government has to get it's hands on the money first.

I just want to go to bed and wake up four years later with a new president, but I must control myself and accept whatever God's plan is for me.

More and more, I'm depending on others for the right  words.  This was sent to me today from a friend who doesn't want any credit for it. We'll give God the credit.

"Today is a big day.  No matter what the outcome of the election, we need to remember:

'Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established.  The authorities that exist have been established by God.'  Romans 13:1

We need to support our leaders, whoever wins tonight. They were put there by God.  We need to pray that God will continue to give us favor over other nations as he has in the past.  Most importantly, we need to stop the hate, and remember God is in control of everything.   EVERYTHING"

Prayer of Hope

This is a prayer circling the internet. May God see fit to answer our urgent request.

Dear Beloved God in Heaven
Please give us a president that loves this country
 and everything it stands for.
Please give us a president who respects you as the one true God.
Please give us a president who will, under your guidance,
restore this nation to its former glory, the way you created her.
Please help us to respect what you have given to us
and not take anything for granted ever again.
Please God weaken the evil and strengthen the good
 both without and within.
May our eyes be opened.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen

God Bless America!

Today, our 39th day of prayer for the election, has been a very busy and tense one, especially in Ohio, where the race is so close.  It has gotten harder each day to understand how some just do not see the light, no matter how it is presented. Yes, I do understand the brainwashing of youth in some public schools; but it is still difficult to believe that facts don't sway them.  However, I'm elated to see so many  realize what is at stake and vow to do their part.

My layout has taken second place in this blog to show that we are placing our emphasis on our country's well being.

Here, is  the layout I've chosen for today.  There is no relationship with it's theme to the rest of the post. It is just a collection of photos taken by Caleb's mom last week of him in his back yard, innocent of all the debt the nation has placed on his shoulders, which will need to be paid by him and his peers.  Let's pray for these children as well. Think of them when you go to the polls, if you have not already.

We've heard of long lines at the polls already in Ohio. I am praying it is because of those who are taking seriously the likelihood of losing all our freedom if we don't change the president  this year.

We Believe in America...

Sad Day

It's been a sad day. Actually it's been several weeks of sorrow, knowing that Teresa and Layton are moving. Tomorrow is the day. Over the last year, Teresa has been called to help with her mother and father and she's gone to see her children and grandchildren, leaving us here in Ohio wanting her company. But we knew she'd be coming back soon. Now, that is not the case. They will be citizens of  Florida with another home in Texas.

I'm just praying  the election goes well and we won't have to be constantly concerned there won't be any money for travel (fuel too expensive) or that movement from one area of the country to another will be discouraged.

I'm really thankful for the internet and iPhones.  As long as we have a satellite, we should be able to keep in touch.

She and I are trying to keep positive on this our 38th day of prayer for the election, knowing that God is in control.

"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.  And whenever you stand praying if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses."  Mark 11: 24-25

It's coming down to the wire. Polls show a very close race. Pray harder, thrusting his  word.

Looking for Something?

Caleb is having a 'love affair' with flashlights. The one on his forehead is not enough. He has to have another in his hand. It is a good thing his dad is a good shopper. He found a set of several flashlights and LOTS of batteries for $15.00.  It's not expensive for all this playtime. We do hope he tires of them quickly though before a need to buy more Evereadys.  He likes to sleep with the lights burning.  He's never in the dark.

Not sure for what he is looking, but I know I'm looking forward to Tuesday. This election race is tight and nerve wracking.  If there wasn't such a stark difference in the candidates, it wouldn't be so hard on me.  But knowing as much as I've learned these last four years, I know we can't do four more years and survive as a country.  Let's say, with all that has been revealed about the current president, I'm no longer in the dark.

The Benghazi fiasco topped it off for me...yet manyAmericans still don't know what happened.  Some don't even know there was anything at all.

It is very frightening to know my country could turn it's back on it's own citizens, go to bed at night,  sleep, fly to Vegas in the morning and then apologize to the enemy!

"They watched them die after refusing to send help. Reports are coming out that our two former Navy SEALs held off 200 cowardly terrorists for two hours, killing 80. A Marine contingent was only one hour away. The Obama Administration let them die. They let Ambassador Chris Stevens be raped, murdered and his body dragged through the streets. They let Tyrone Woods and Glen Dohert give their last full measure of devotion in defense of the Americans still in the consulate.

And they let Sean Smith, a former Air Force Captain be murdered as well. I will never forget the chilling message posted by Sean Smith, "I think we're going to die tonight." They lifted not a single finger to help our consulate under attack, and these men died. Don't look to the Obama Administration, let alone Barack Obama, for answers.

They are in full CYA mode. But I ask you to remember the four men who were brutally murdered. Never forget. Standard op in this scenario is to go in with all necessary force to protect our people & assets - this has been demonstrated time& again thru American history. For this utter collapse someone had to say 'No - don't go.' Petraeus had to know. Clinton had to know. Obama had to know. And they let them die. Obama just went to bed-he had to go to Vegas for a fundraiser in the morning."

All I'll add to this is, it was on September 11, the embassy had asked for more security and it was refused. There is no excuse.  Then when the attackers came, they stayed for over 7 hours.  Seven hours and we did NOTHING.

I have copied this message. I'm not sure who wrote it, but it was well done and covers many of the facts that have been discovered.

You are no longer in the dark. In case you hadn't decided how to vote, I certainly hope this has helped.

This is day 37 of our prayer for the election. Please pray that God will direct your steps and your votes. Pray for safety at polling places. Pray that all voter fraud will be discovered quickly and corrected.

Pumpkins and a Bale of Hay

Caleb was sick several days leading up to Halloween, but he seemed to enjoy the activities he did get to attend...like farm class.

There are still those of you who have not yet decided for whom to vote or even if you will vote. I am here to encourage you to pray about it and then to vote. Polls are saying it is close.  That is hard for me to believe at times, however it certainly could be. This election may be the most important one ever for our country. It could mean heading straight to the left or turning back on the road to recovery and freedom.

In my mail today was this quote from Samuel Adams back in 1781.  "Let each citizen remember at the moment he is offering his vote that he is not making a present or a compliment to please an individual- or at least that he ought not so to do: but that he is executing one of the most solemn trusts in human society for which he is accountable to God and his country."

This is our 37th Day of prayer for this coming election on Tuesday. Please pray for God's guidance and for the well being of  all those on the east coast who are suffering loss.

Please join Mitt Romney and thousands of other Americans in supporting storm victims.

Yesterday, Mitt made the following statement: "We have heavy hearts, as you know, with all the suffering going on. There are a lot of people who were hurting this morning, who were hurting last night. The generosity of the American people touches my heart."

A Child's Delight

Beth is blessed by the chance to enjoy the Caleb's simple delight in leaf wallowing.  Such a simple thing to bring pleasure to a little one. All mothers should have the opportunity to see the joy in their children's eyes from day to day...to see them learn and to shape their attitudes.  It must leave an emptiness in the heart to drop off a child at daycare and not return until you are  tired from a day of stress. While dealing with the problems of others, one can miss the joys of motherhood.

Caleb is blessed to have his mother there to show him true love.

The following is a very interesting email I received today after talking with friends at lunch time about the fact that in Austria there was seemingly no knowledge of The Sound of Music.

This is written  by Kitty Werthmann an 85 year old lady from Austria. Her story is so interesting.  I started reading and couldn't stop. It is long, but perhaps you will get wrapped up in it as I did.

America is Truly
the greatest country in the world.

What I am about to tell you is something you've probably never heard or will ever read in history books.
I believe that I am an eyewitness to history. I cannot tell you that Hitler took Austria by tanks and guns; it would distort history. We elected him by a landslide - 98% of the vote. I've never read that in any American publications. Everyone thinks that Hitler just rolled in with his tanks and took Austria by force.
In 1938, Austria was in deep Depression. Nearly one-third of our workforce was unemployed. We had 25% inflation and 25% bank loan interest rates.
Farmers and business people were declaring bankruptcy daily. Young people were going from house to house begging for food. Not that they didn't want to work; there simply weren't any jobs. My mother was a Christian woman and believed in helping people in need. Every day we cooked a big kettle of soup and baked bread to feed those poor, hungry people - about 30 daily.
The Communist Party and the National Socialist Party were fighting each other. Blocks and blocks of cities like Vienna, Linz, and Graz were destroyed. The people became desperate and petitioned the government to let them decide what kind of government they wanted.
We looked to our neighbor on the north, Germany, where Hitler had been in power since 1933. We had been told that they didn't have unemployment or crime, and they had a high standard of living. Nothing was ever said about persecution of any group -- Jewish or otherwise. We were led to believe that everyone was happy. We wanted the same way of life in Austria. We were promised that a vote for Hitler would mean the end of unemployment and help for the family. Hitler also said that businesses would be assisted, and farmers would get their farms back. Ninety-eight percent of the population voted to annex Austria to Germany and have Hitler for our ruler.
We were overjoyed, and, for three days, we danced in the streets and had candlelight parades. The new government opened up big field kitchens and everyone was fed.
After the election, German officials were appointed, and like a miracle, we suddenly had law and order. Three or four weeks later, everyone was employed. The government made sure that a lot of work was created through the Public Work Service.
Hitler decided we should have equal rights for women. Before this, it was a custom that married Austrian women did not work outside the home. An able-bodied husband would be looked down on if he couldn't support his family. Many women in the teaching profession were elated that they could retain the jobs they previously had been required to give up for marriage.
Hitler Targets Education - Eliminates Religious Instruction for Children:
Our education was nationalized. I attended a very good public school. The population was predominantly Catholic, so we had religion in our schools. The day we elected Hitler (March 13, 1938), I walked into my schoolroom to find the crucifix replaced by Hitler's picture hanging next to a Nazi flag. Our teacher, a very devout woman, stood up and told the class we wouldn't pray or have religion anymore. Instead, we sang "Deutschland, Deutschland, Uber Alles," and had physical education.
Sunday became National Youth Day with compulsory attendance. Parents were not pleased about the sudden change in curriculum. They were told that if they did not send us, they would receive a stiff letter of warning the first time. The second time they would be fined the equivalent of $300, and the third time they would be subject to jail. The first two hours consisted of political indoctrination. The rest of the day we had sports. As time went along, we loved it. Oh, we had so much fun and got our sports equipment free. We would go home and gleefully tell our parents about the wonderful time we had.
My mother was very unhappy. When the next term started, she took me out of public school and put me in a convent. I told her she couldn't do that and she told me that someday, when I grew up, I would be grateful. There was a very good curriculum, but hardly any fun - no sports, and no political indoctrination. I hated it at first, but felt I could tolerate it. Every once in a while, on holidays, I went home. I would go back to my old friends and ask what was going on and what they were doing. Their loose lifestyle was very alarming to me. They lived without religion. By that time, unwed mothers were glorified for having a baby for Hitler. It seemed strange to me that our society changed so suddenly. As time went along, I realized what a great deed my mother did so that I wasn't exposed to that kind of humanistic philosophy.
Equal Rights Hits Home:
In 1939, the war started and a food bank was established. All food was rationed and could only be purchased using food stamps. At the same time, a full-employment law was passed which meant, if you didn't work, you didn't get a ration card, and if you didn't have a card, you starved to death. Women who stayed home to raise their families didn't have any marketable skills and often had to take jobs more suited for men.
Soon after this, the draft was implemented. It was compulsory for young people, male and female, to give one year to the labor corps. During the day, the girls worked on the farms, and at night they returned to their barracks for military training just like the boys. They were trained to be anti-aircraft gunners and participated in the signal corps. After the labor corps, they were not discharged but were used in the front lines. When I go back to Austria to visit my family and friends, most of these women are emotional cripples because they just were not equipped to handle the horrors of combat. Three months before I turned 18, I was severely injured in an air raid attack. I nearly had a leg amputated, so I was spared having to go into the labor corps and into military service.
Hitler Restructured the Family Through Daycare:
When the mothers had to go out into the work force, the government immediately established child care centers. You could take your children ages 4 weeks to school age and leave them there around-the-clock, 7 days a week, under the total care of the government. The state raised a whole generation of children. There were no motherly women to take care of the children, just people highly trained in child psychology. By this time, no one talked about equal rights. We knew we had been had.
Health Care and Small Business Suffer Under Government Controls:
Before Hitler, we had very good medical care. Many American doctors trained at the University of Vienna. After Hitler, health care was socialized, free for everyone. Doctors were salaried by the government. The problem was, since it was free, the people were going to the doctors for everything. When the good doctor arrived at his office at 8 a.m., 40 people were already waiting and, at the same time, the hospitals were full. If you needed elective surgery, you had to wait a year or two for your turn. There was no money for research as it was poured into socialized medicine. Research at the medical schools literally stoppedso the best doctors left Austria and emigrated to other countries.
As for healthcare, our tax rates went up to 80% of our income.Newlyweds immediately received a $1,000 loan from the government to establish a household. We had big programs for families. All day care and education were free. High schools were taken over by the government and college tuition was subsidized. Everyone was entitled to free handouts, such as food stamps, clothing, and housing.
We had another agency designed to monitor business. My brother-in-law owned a restaurant that had square tables. Government officials told him he had to replace them with round tables because people might bump themselves on the corners. Then they said he had to have additional bathroom facilities. It was just a small dairy business with a snack bar. He couldn't meet all the demands. Soon, he went out of business. If the government owned the large businesses and not many small ones existed, it could be in control.
We had consumer protection. We were told how to shop and what to buy. Free enterprise was essentially abolished. We had a planning agency specially designed for farmers. The agents would go to the farms, count the livestock, then tell the farmers what to produce, and how to produce it.
"Mercy Killing" Redefined:
In 1944, I was a student teacher in a small village in the Alps. The villagers were surrounded by mountain passes which, in the winter, were closed off with snow, causing people to be isolated. So people intermarried and offspring were sometimes retarded. When I arrived, I was told there were 15 mentally retarded adults, but they were all useful and did good manual work. I knew one, named Vincent, very well. He was a janitor of the school. One day, I looked out the window and saw Vincent and others getting into a van. I asked my superior where they were going. She said to an institution where the State Health Department would teach them a trade, and to read and write. The families were required to sign papers with a little clause that they could not visit for 6 months. They were told visits would interfere with the program and might cause homesickness.
As time passed, letters started to dribble back saying these people died a natural, merciful death. The villagers were not fooled. We suspected what was happening. Those people left in excellent physical health and all died within 6 months. We called this euthanasia.
The Final Steps - Gun Laws:
Next came gun registration. People were getting injured by guns. Hitler said that the real way to catch criminals (we still had a few) was by matching serial numbers on guns. Most citizens were law-abiding and dutifully marched to the police station to register their firearms. Not long afterwards, the police said that it was best for everyone to turn in their guns. The authorities already knew who had them, so it was futile not to comply voluntarily.
No more freedom of speech. Anyone who said something against the government was taken away. We knew many people who were arrested, not only Jews, but also priests and ministers who spoke up.
Totalitarianism didn't come quickly, it took 5 years from 1938 until 1943, to realize full dictatorship in Austria. Had it happened overnight, my countrymen would have fought to the last breath. Instead, we had creeping gradualism. Now, our only weapons were broom handles. The whole idea sounds almost unbelievable that the state, little by little, eroded our freedom.
After World War II, Russian troops occupied Austria. Women were raped, pre-teen to elderly. The press never wrote about this, either. When the Soviets left in 1955, they took everything that they could, dismantling whole factories in the process. They sawed down whole orchards of fruit, and what they couldn't destroy, they burned. We called it The Burned Earth. Most of the population barricaded themselves in their houses. Women hid in their cellars for 6 weeks as the troops mobilized. Those who couldn't, paid the price. There is a monument in Vienna today, dedicated to those women who were massacred by the Russians. This is an eye witness account.
"It's true...those of us who sailed past the Statue of Liberty came to a country of unbelievable freedom and opportunity.
America Truly is the Greatest Country in the World. Don't Let Freedom Slip Away!
"After America, There is No Place to Go."
Please forward this message to other voters who may not have seen it.

We are now on the 35th day of prayer for the coming election...one that will take us further into socialism or return us to the country founded as a republic, where freedom is a high priority.  Study and pray. Ask God to forgive us our immorality and materialism and give us another chance with freedom and choice.
