Praying for the Election

Garden skills have been passed down from generation to
generation in Beth's family. She worked by her mother's side
 as a young girl.

Now, Caleb has learned a lot this summer by helping his
mom in her backyard garden. He planted these carrots and
now he is eating his produce.

He also dressed himself that morning.  Since they didn't have
to go away from the house, Beth let him stay in his underwear
and leg warmers.  I hope this doesn't become a trend...or has it?

We are on day 3 of our 40 days of prayer for the election.

My prayer today is inspired by Philippians 1: 9-10.
"And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and
more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able
to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless
for the day of Christ."

Father in heaven, Let us  pray for each other so that we all
grow more and more in love for our fellow man. I ask Father,
that you help us to not esteem some better than others. Help
us to not think or ourselves more highly than others. Help us
appreciate that all of us are your children and as such have
the same inalienable rights. We all need a chance to learn and
grow in freedom.  I pray also that we will study to know the
issues and that you, Father, will provide us with the wisdom
to make choices that will be for the good of our country.

As we see  countries over the world going bankrupt and not
having adequate funds, help us understand why that is
happening and how to avoid it ourselves...not only  on a
personal level but on a national level as well.

We are not alone in this pursuit of truth. Thousands of Christians
gathered Saturday on Independence Mall in Philadelphia to pray for
the future of the United States in the weeks before the upcoming
 election.

This is our beautiful granddaughter.  I had a lot of fun making this layout today. She just recently moved from NYC and is now in Charlotte, North Carolina.

We are on day 2 of our 40 Days of Prayer before the election.

No matter for what we are praying, it is always important to seek God's will:  "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."

Therefore, when praying that God will guide the election for our  good, first ask for his direction in your life.  He is love and He will give you what you need.

iPhone for a Two Year Old

While watching a commercial for iPhones, John mentioned he'd like the black one.  Caleb said, "I want the white one."

Well our little super hero here is elated to have received 'his' white iPhone. It actually worked out well. He still has the box his mom's phone came in and so far is happy with it.  In the meantime, his dad will probably pull out an old phone and get a white cover for it.

Caleb is the boy whom I predicted would have an iPhone clinched in his fist as he came out of the womb.  He's had to wait a bit, while sharing his mom's. It certainly is a good thing they have an Otterbox case for it or is would have been pronounced dead long ago...but instead it has survived falls down the basement steps and lots of other bang ups.

Now if our government can survive this presidency, we  will all be all right.

Today, Many across our great nation are joining in prayer for our  country. Because the scripture says:
"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.: (2 Chronicles 7:14), we are uniting  in prayer for each other and specifically for our nation and the election coming in just 40 days.

Go to maxlucado.com/election now to register, then join us in 40 days of prayer.

Our God is a uniter, not a divider.  He does not distinguish between male and female, old or young, rich or poor, black, yellow, red or white, weak or strong. He loves all of us and wants the best for us.  Let's show him that we too share his desire for unity and love.

An art project can brighten a day and Ashley enjoyed making her pretty princess bank.  Now let's hope she enjoys working to fill up that bank with coins.  There is much satisfaction in accomplishment.

Speaking of plays. The boys, Aussie and Mason left their music/ play scripts at the doctor's office.  When Chelle reminded them  Aussie said," look on the bright side...we're cute. " Mason said, "what does that have to do with anything?" Then Aussie replied, "hey don't question my tactics."

We'll try to not do that to you Aussie, but we must question the tactics of those who are out to destroy us.

I am quoting from The Blaze : "Is there a government cover-up at play?"
"A 2001 raid in Switzerland unearthed a chilling manifesto now dubbed “The Project,” a detailed Islamic blueprint for infiltrating, subverting and ultimately defeating the U.S. and the West. Today, 80 file boxes worth of evidence submitted during the 2008 Holy Land Foundation trial — the largest terror financing trial in U.S. history to date — including “The Project” documents, are being withheld from the American public by the Department of Justice."
If your curiosity has been piqued, Click on 'The Project"  to read all about it.  For anyone who is not familiar with Glenn Beck, you can be assured all his statements are well documented.
These boxes of papers are very important in that they outline the Muslim Brotherhood plan for infiltrating our government and defeating the west.

"The Muslim Brotherhood has been successfully waging a “propaganda” campaign in much the same way the former Soviet Union did before and during the Cold War."

I'm sure I haven't said enough here for you to see the gravity of the situation.  Please go here to read more.

We are not in a good situation.

In the Bible we have examples of praying and fasting.  Twice, that I remember  right now, there were fasts that lasted 40  days.  The first was after Moses had brought down from the mountain the tablets with the 10 commandments.  The second was after Jesus' baptism when he went into the wilderness.

Max Lucado has called for 40 days of prayer preceding the election.  There is no mention of a fast, but it would not be a bad idea. Tomorrow night we will begin the 40 days, knowing that God gave us this promise:  "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.: (2 Chronicles 7:14)
So, let us Unite, grow strong and appoint our next president.

Go to maxlucado.com/election now to register then join us tomorrow in the first of 40 days of prayer.

Chelle has a cat named Lucky.  There are two other cats in the house, but she is loved by the gentle mom of the residence.  She is definitely the most favored, lucky cat.

In the news: Instead of defending free speech, the president of the United States apologized for an anti-islam video in his United Nations address Tuesday.  That video was not in demand and  could still be  pretty much unknown if it hadn't been for him mentioning it over and over and over during the last couple of weeks, building everyone's curiosity to what could have possibly made the Muslims of the world so angry, while surely making them more and more upset.

But of course, it wasn't the film that lit a fire under them in the first place.  They are angry because we are a Christian nation and we are not under Sharia Law. They hate us because we do not bow to Mecca each day. They had already vowed to kill us all. They had already staged several attacks on us as a  nation. They were ready to riot and murder on the anniversary of 9/12. And our government failed to provide necessary  protection for our  people in our embassies.

Okay, so now all we need to do, according to Obama, is be nice to them and let them have their  way.  NO THANK YOU!

Romans 8:31

"What then, shall we say in response to this?  If God is for us, who can be against us?"

What we need to do is BE CHRISTIAN with no apology. Live a life that would glorify our Lord and Savior. And depend on our God to protect us from the evil in this world. Then we can live in safety,  in the comfort of the  love of Jesus.

This is the Stuff Life is Made Of...yes those little moments that don't make history, but they make an individual who he/ she is.  This day, Mason experimented with his creativity. He, his mom and sister were all out together while Aussie was in his Chinese class.  They went to a store where there was a special deal.  They could do a ceramic project.  Mason chose to make this cool mug/cookie holder.  That is a clever idea there, Mason.

He painted his mug like a favorite stuffed toy, Moosey.   He designated the cutout in the mug to be Moosey's mouth and a cookie holder.  Very good idea.

May God bless you and keep you safe.

Who says you can't have cool hair at 70?  This is the layout I promised. Proof that Ron is not too old to have fun.  Lots of people had a good laugh over this bright hair. Click and read about the young couple we met at a drive in restaurant.

I must have some fun. I refuse to be down over  the stupid polls  coming out daily saying that citizens  of our country are completely ignorant.  I can't make myself believe it.  Yes, I know our schools have been teaching socialism for decades now. They have also been playing down God in all the media as well as at school. But does no one see what is happening to the economy?  Even if one is on food stamps, he/she can tell that every week he/she can get less for what he/she has to spend.  Prices are going up almost daily and the government is telling us there is no inflation.  Duh.  Of course some probably don't know what inflation is...and they will be voting!  They also want to believe any lie they hear from the one who is paying for their telephones.  Boy, I know I'm hitting low, but WAKE UP AMERICA!

Don't Jump to Conclusions

Yes, I will make a layout of this. I will even explain it, but first I'm giving you 24 hours to just let it sink in to your brain.  There is a warning...don't jump to conclusions.

Back in '55

I suppose the good old days were when we were young, whenever that was.  I hope that  our young grandchildren will be able to look back on their youth and feel the same way.  I feel disaster approaching, but pray that God delivers us...for our children's and grandchildren's sake.

While waiting for pictures of the kids with their new iPhones, I have gone back to my 'good old days' in 1955 when I was 12.  It is fun to read all the things that happened during my youth. And these are the things that made big headlines that year:

The Shelter of God's Promises

Since we have done all of Beth Moore's studies, I believe, our Ladies' Bible class is now taking a video course by Sheila Walsh called, The Shelter of God's Promises.  Paulette is our excellent leader and she is the one who made this bulletin board.  And Jane is the lady who gets us started each day with a little levity to make sure we are awake before the lesson.

This day, Jane showed up to do her thing, even though only 4 days earlier she fell on her basement stairs, sprained her ankle and gashed her head... 8 staples worth.  She was limping, but it didn't extinguish her good sense of humor or bright smile.

Now for the state of things outside the classroom...on the street, so to speak.  Several days ago a woman wrote a letter to the editor of our newspaper  which stated something like this:  Progressive is the opposite of Regressive.  And she is absolutely correct.  However, I think what she was trying to say is ,'Being a Progressive isn't a bad thing, but being the opposite, regressive is,  that is, she was  saying that Republicans are regressive.   That is one of the tricks those who would like to lead you astray would use. They would cloud your mind with insignificance and half truths.

Actually, neither is good. They are both extremes. It is better to be a Conservative.  That is the middle between Progressives and Regressives.  The Conservative is probably more near what you and I are if you stop to think about it. The Conservatives hold onto what is good and fix only that which is not working well. Think about it, it may be hard because the liberal teachers in schools have been teaching for quite a few years now that Conservatives were rich, uncaring and greedy. It isn't true at all.
Conservatives believe in giving to all citizens the tools they need to make the most of themselves and make them self confident wage earners, while enjoying their God given freedom.  The old saying goes...give a man a fish and he will eat for one day, teach him to fish and he'll eat for a lifetime.

Conservatives are generous with their own money while Liberals are generous with every one else's money.

Do the Same Thing, Get the Same Results

Caleb came upon this tractor at the farm. Oh joyous day.  He has been on it before and I'm sure that when he goes back to the city farm, he will be up there again.

No matter how many times he gets up there, the tractor is not going to move.  I suppose he knows that.

No matter how many times our government throws money at people, they will still get the same results. And in this case, it means more and more people coming to this country illegally because it is a win, win situation for them.  They get well paying jobs they can't find in their own countries and we continue to pile dollars on them.  Meanwhile, many of our very own citizens are going without work and yes, collecting dollars from the taxpayers. This can only keep on as long as the tax payers are able to work and make money to give away.  It can't go on forever.

Preteen Shopping 2012

The styles, they are a changing...always did, always will, I suppose. Each generation likes it's own styles and wonders why anyone would want to wear the newer ones.  Now this little outfit looks darling on Ashley. I think it is a good choice for her,  But I'm not sure  I could have ever pulled it off.  Sequins galore make the skirt sparkle in the light.

Now for the news.  Remember when General Motors was an American automobile manufacturer?  Remember when the liberals in our government took over the company with a bailout?  Did you know that GM has offered to buy back stock from the government? Did you read that most of the profit the company is making at the present time is from selling it's product to  our government?...that's your money and my money! Well that's not all of the story.  If you are not concerned now, wait until you see this next video:  Click here.http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=Lvl5Gan69Wo

Letter School

It  spite of all the trouble we are having getting our young people educated, there are some really good things out there to help them at home when the schools fail to do their job.  And of course you can do these things on your own timing as well.

Caleb is two and he is using an APP called Letter School on his mom's phone. It helps him learn to write his numerals. There is a race car which runs on a path.  I'm not sure how it works, but I watched him trace the letters with his finger.  The serious look on his face shows what a hard worker he is.  He really concentrates when he is learning something new.

I saw the following on Face Book today. It is a good reminder because many of us get caught up in Political Correctness or just plain public opinion.

"Majority opinion is not an accurate measurement of what is right or what is wrong. Truth can't be measured by numbers. In our search for what is right or wrong, we usually start off with 'what does the majority say', 'what do my friends say', 'what do the experts say'...get the truth instead...open the Bible and find out what God says."

So We don't Forget

So we don't forget,  actually, so I don't forget, I'm making a book of my childhood for my kids and grand kids. It's hard for me to know what might be of interest, so I'm just writing anything that comes to mind when I see these old pictures.

When I was about 4, my Aunt Arlie and Uncle Jesse adopted a little girl who was a year older than I. It was good. She was a friend and I got her hand me downs.  In this picture you can see that we both had cowgirl outfits.

And speaking of not forgetting, I got an email yesterday that tickled me. You may enjoy it as well.  You definitely will if you are having the same trouble.

Do you forget?    Click here and remember.

The Playpond of the 50s

When I was a young girl, my mom went to work. That was the thing to do during the war.  Many employers were left without help since so many men had gone to fight.

One of the places Mom worked was B. F. Goodrich.  She was in Playpond production. This layout shows me splashing in mine during the early 50s.

At that time there was no Medicare. Families would take care of their seniors. We didn't worry about it. But in 1966  the first enrollees began collecting.  While more and more women joined the workforce permanently, prices began to rise. People became dependent on Medicare. They didn't have anyone at home to help the oldsters. Many couldn't afford to help their parents. Then needed Medicare.

It became more and more necessary over the years. Now our president has raided Medicare to help fund his extremely costly Obamacare Package.  Not only that,  but his comrades stuck more taxes and prohibitions in that 2,000 page document...the one that most congressmen didn't read, either for lack of time or interest, before it was signed against the wishes of the majority of citizens.

You may be dismayed to learn that  due to this 'health care' bill, you will have a new tax, come 2013 on the sale of your home.  You can read below about that  tax.  But be aware...this in only a small part of what is in the oppressive bill.  It must be repealed!

When does your home become part of your health care? After 2012! Your vote counts big time in 2012, make sure you and all your friends and family know about this! **** *HOME SALES TAX* I thought you might find this interesting, -- maybe even SICKENING! The National Association of Realtors is all over this and working to get it repealed, -- before it takes effect. But, I am very pleased we aren't the only ones who know about this ploy to steal billions from unsuspecting homeowners.  How many realtors do you think will vote Democratic in 2012? Did you know that if you sell your house after 2012 you will pay a 3.8% sales tax on it? That's $3,800 on a $100,000 home, etc. When did this happen? It's in the health care bill, -- and it goes into effect in 2013. Why 2013? Could it be so that it doesnt come to light until after the 2012 elections? So, this is change you can believe in? Under the new health care bill all real estate transactions will be subject to a 3.8% sales tax. If you sell a $400,000 home, there will be a $15,200 tax. This bill is set to screw the retiring generation, -- who often downsize their homes. Does this make your November, 2012 vote more important? Oh, you weren't aware that this was in the ObamaCare bill? Guess what; you aren't alone! There are more than a few members of Congress that weren't aware of it either. You can check this out for yourself at: * *http://www.gop.gov/blog/10/04/08/obamacare-flatlines-obamacare-taxes-home** ** *I hope you pass  on this info to everyone you know* *VOTERS NEED TO KNOW.* **** ****

Family at the Beach

I'm sure it is still nice at the beach, even though the weather has cooled somewhat here in Ohio.
This picture was taken last summer, 2011, on the Atlantic. It is a family shot, April's family. It's wonderful that they can be together at times.  I don't have  a picture from this yea and of course the kids are bigger now. By next year, the little ones will be looking forward to these vacations with their cousins.

Well that is the light side of the blog tonight.  On a more serious subject, is Oamacare. The plan calls for cuts to hospitals in order to finance our president's healthcare that we the people do not want.

While the liberals are promising to protect Medicare as we've known it, in order to get votes in November, they have ushered in a healthcare system that right off the bat takes $716 billion from Medicare for it's own support.  Don't be fooled. It doesn't make any sense at all to think that hospitals, which will lose that money, will still be able to care for the seniors the same way they always have...especially since everything is more expensive now that Obama has caused  inflation to hit us hard.
It would be difficult to pretend that many of our old folk will not die each year for lack of care.

For some reason  tonight, I'm getting 'access denied' on every website to which I try to guide you. So, I guess, if you are interested, you might just have to google Betsy McCaughey/ Fox News.com/ seniors and healthcare.  I love the internet, but hate it when it gives me trouble.

Legoland Girls

Looks like these cute girls have just crashed the party. They are enjoying Legoland.

May God save this great country for young people like these sweet girls.

I've made an important decision. Why don't we just say we are sorry that we are a great Christian nation and that we hope to be  a poor Muslim nation just like Egypt or Yemen, so that they will like us and be good to us?

Oh, wait, we already did that and looks like it didn't work.  Can you believe that? They don't want to play fair!

Looks like we need to bring  Ronald Reagan back. Or could it be that the Republicans already have a man with common sense on the ballot?

Float That Boat

We had a great time yesterday touring the lakes with a group of young people from church.  They call themselves the 49ers...and I'm not sure why.  Anyway they are over 49.    I imagine we had a couple of guests who were a bit younger.   It was a perfect day and we floated three pontoon boats full all around the lakes. It was  big  fun.

Our president and his 'boatmen' are trying desperately to float the GM boat which is trying to sink after we, the taxpayers, have put in billions of dollars to keep it above the red line.

The story goes much like this one: As a parent, you purchase the lemons, sugar , cups and pitchers for your children's lemonade stand. Then you buy most of the lemonade yourself.

The car  company the administration bought with our tax money is now being 'saved'  by government employees using MORE of our tax money to buy new cars.  79% of GM's sales last month were purchased by the government.

If  you are interested in knowing more...and getting more upset...read the entire article below:

Remember how Obama keeps telling us how he saved GM, and how our economy is getting better, it seems the car company he bought is being saved by Govt employees using our tax money to buy new cars. 79% of GM's sales last month was government purchased.
GM's sales figures for last month were the best since 2008 , up 16% for the month of June. YIPPEE! Well, wait just a minute. It seems that those rosy sales figures are due primarily to a 79% increase in fleet sales to the U.S. government in June. That's right. Our tax dollars are being used to pump up GM's sales figures ahead of next month's quarterly report so that Dear Leader can point to Government Motors as a huge success. The incestuous relationship between GM, the UAW and the Regime has never been more glaringly apparent. I've said it before and I'll say it again. GM is unsustainable without government subsidies and will ultimately go bust again, taking billions of taxpayer dollars down with it.
We bailed out General Motors to the tune of $50 billion. $30 billion of this is effectively a loss, mostly sunk into fattening the United Auto Workers union-fierce Obama supporters-while the actual bondholders were shown the elevator shaft.
Meanwhile, as News Busters reports, "We the Taxpayers are still stuck holding 500+ million shares of GM stock. Which we need to sell at $53 per. Which debuted post-bankruptcy at $33 per. And which is currently trading at just over $20 per. Meaning we'll lose about $15 billion."
But it gets better. Despite the overwhelming negatives, the tiny bright spot of positive June sales numbers is being heralded by Obama and the leftist press as proof the auto bailout was a "success."
Obama is now campaigning on the "success" of - the government buying cars from.the government's car company. With our money.
Americanvision says That's like you setting up a lemonade stand for your kids. You buy them the lemons, sugar, cups and pitchers - and then buy most of the lemonade yourself.
The pressure is on Government Motors to appear financially strong as this may be the last earnings report before November elections and sets the stage for how "successful" GM is. One of GM's past tricks to help fudge earnings numbers has been to stuff truck inventory channels. Old habits die hard at GM. According to a Bloomberg report, "GM said inventory of its full-size pickups, which will be refreshed next year, climbed to 238,194 at the end of June, a 135 days' supply, up from 116 days at the end of May." 135 days' supply is huge, the accepted norm is a 60 day supply. The trick here is that GM records revenue when vehicles go into dealership, not when they're actually sold! What a way to run a business- ain't this a great country?

Every Day Life

Years ago, we took pictures on special occasions like birthdays and Christmas.  Now that we don't use film and have to have those pictures developed and have cameras everywhere, even on our phones, we take pictures ALL THE TIME.  It is wonderful for a grandmother who lives far away to be able to see the kiddos living every day life.  The time Caleb had just discovered he likes pickle on his grilled cheese sandwich.

I love this little fellow and I'm glad he is not in the Chicago School system. Many grandmothers do have children there. How disturbing it would be to know that your child/ grandchild was in a school where 79% of the 8th graders are not grade-level proficient in reading...but where the teachers are threatening to strike because they don't want their salaries to reflect in any way their poor teaching.

Now having been a teacher in public schools, I know that when people send their children to school without having any basic teaching at home and no discipline either, it is very difficult to teach them.  However, there has to be something wrong at school if only 21% learn to read at grade level.

In the same schools, 80% are not proficient in math either!

All this might really get you wondering, but when you know the salaries these teachers take home, you might be downright angry. I understand that the average salary of Chicago teachers in somewhere between $71,000 and $76,000 a year before pensions, while the people who are paying the taxes to give the teachers these very high salaries, generally make around $40,000 a year.  Something is not right in Chicago.  Lots of things are not right in Chicago!
