Back Home Again

While we were away for the Thanksgiving holiday, I started this layout as April was cooking. But more interesting activities drew me away from my laptop and I haven't had a chance to finish. It was rather cloudy on our way east. But we still enjoyed the scenery. Pennsylvania is a beautiful state. I'll finish this later, if the Lord is willing. I hope to give you several more glimpses of our trip and of the family members we visited. It was wonderful, but as always, I'm happy to be home and back at my desk.

Gramma Jane

My friend Jane has just become a grandmother. I am taking this opportunity before she becomes famous world wide as the best grandmother of all times, to let everyone know that I know her personally.

IN_N_OUT

I appreciate good food. And generally I like the main course better than dessert. In these days when they try to tell us red meat it bad for you, I don't believe it. I eat it at least twice a week.
Even though my favorite is steak, I really like those hamburgers and when I look at a menu and nothing stands out, I'll order a ...hamburger. Some end up being pretty mediocre, but the ones I give 4 stars have fresh ingredients and a large, just out of the oven tasting, bun. Forget the sandwiches with piled on extraneous stuff like mushrooms and bacon. I don't even want cheese. Why do they ask if you want cheese on a hamburger? If I did, I'd ask for a cheeseburger! IN-N-OUT deserves 4 stars in my book. I'm looking forward to seeing our son again and eating one of those special HAMBURGERS.

Makin' Up Crap

This layout was requested by one of our primary members...Paulette. The reason we would make ourselves so vulnerable, by doing this and even acting it out for the camera, is because our fine reputations prove that this is just a joke. We take seriously our station in life which is to be examples of perfection to all who might meet with ORU. (Tongue in cheek here.) Seriously, the reason for this post... When we have been together all day or ever for days and talk and talk and talk, one would think we would run out of anything to say. No! Maybe what we are saying after so many hours is no longer extremely important to saving the world, but it is all meaningful to us. The term in our title came from the mouth of our astounded sister (Sali) when she just couldn't believe something one of us had said. "Are you just makin' up crap?" burst from her mouth. It amused us so that we use it frequently to mean,'really?'

Cotton Patch

The triplets and I visit our first cotton field. They enjoyed the novelty.

I appreciate that someone in this country still knows how to grow cotton, since we now get ours from Egypt. They tout that stuff for being so very good. I wonder why towels made from it do not absorb as well as our towels in the past. It isn't the fabric softener, because we've always used that.

Who would have ever guessed that we would give away our country to others who are willing to work for a less? Our unions and taxes have driven companies overseas to get resources and labor that we could very well provide here if we were not too good to work for a living, if we didn't demand so much for so little.

So as this extreme recession and terrible inflation hits, we can reflect back and know exactly why this has happened. Our people did not follow after Christ who said that man should work honestly for a living. Too many are looking for a way out, for someone or something to take care of them. They grabbed for the Utopian promises of the recent administration and look what has happened. It is time for a REAL CHANGE...a good change this time. Stand up and be counted.

This is a Christian nation. And Christians have nothing to fear, for God is with them.

Pine Tree Barn

Today we ORU girls made our annual trek to the Pine Tree Barn. The economy is not so good these days and several of us mentioned the glut of stuff already at home. Whatever the reason, it resulted in us not spending as much as usual. Some of us bought nothing besides lunch.

Naturally we all had opinions on practically everything we saw. And we had just as much fun talking and laughing with and at each other as ever. It's good to be friends and share days like this in the greatest state in the union. I can say this because Teresa was not able to be with us.

Kiki and the Flashlight

This was a story I really wanted to tell, but really had no pictures to depict it.
Kiki has not really liked anyone coming into her home besides her family. I was there the night they found her, a scared little kitten, all alone in the middle of the road. But of course she doesn't remember that because I left that weekend. Whenever I've gone back, she has hissed and clawed at me. This time, however, we sort of made up. I say 'sort of'' because it was more like she began to tolerate me. She didn't seem to relax while I was around. But when Ashley got out the flashlight ,which Kiki had not yet discovered, the cat went crazy, running from room to room, jumping and twisting in the air in an attempt to catch that light. I took lots of pictures, but I just wasn't fast enough and the lighting was dim. But here you go...the best I could do.
