This is a beautiful bird and he acts as if he knows it. He seemed interested in all of us. He would answer when we said 'Hello". Then most of us walked away and Robin got up close and personal. He looked as if he were enjoying her attention and really showed off for her a while. Then all of a sudden when she was right up to his face, he let out an horrendously loud AWK! The percussion of that noise drove Robin backwards and almost off her feet. It was disconcerting to say the least to all of us.
She didn't tell us what she did, but I suspect she asked him for his birth certificate. Boy was he indignant. I suspect he is not really an American at all. I'll bet he was hatched in Africa. Or perhaps neither of his parents were American citizens at the time.
He is still a handsome bird and can speak what he is told. But that word, AWK, is not English!
