Monumental Tasks

Years ago my sedentary husband set out to rebuild all the railroad tie walls around our last house. It was monumental and took all summer. He bought so many interlocking blocks that they sent a representative from the company out to check with him and give him advise. All the walls were very well done in the end; but for one summer, we lived in a mud pit.

Fast forward to now, 2012, and you will find him with another task at hand.  While no where near the enormity of the last project, nevertheless overwhelming just to observe...adding the fact that now he is 70 years old.

Well at least, we are looking forward to having a new sea wall that will be attractive as well as strong.

We are now on day four of our 40 days of prayer prior to the election.

No matter for what we ask, God tells us it will be given to us.  However, there is something we must do first...that is to seek his kingdom.  Matthew 6:33 reads like this:  "But seek first  his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."  Tied in with other scriptures, this verse  gives me hope that if we seek him first, he will guide us in voting so that we get the best president and representatives for our country...those who will work well to provide a Christian atmosphere that frees us from oppression...one that does not pass laws like the one passed in California recently prohibiting Christian counselors from helping young gays leave that lifestyle and follow the word of God.

Our father in heaven, holy is your name and blessed are we to be able to read your truth in the Bible. Let us read and understand what you want us to know today and tomorrow. Give us wisdom to vote in a way that will bless this nation and thus, those around the world who look to us for an example of generous Christianity.  Amen
